Installed a Kohler Generator in Montauk NY. We choose a flower bed location where we had to remove the flower from the bed and replace it with sand rocks/ pebbles. These rocks  are great for placing the generator because they keep the generator clean and clear from the outside conditions. On top of that we placed a concrete pad and than the generator was place and bolted down. We installed a 2oo Amp transfer switch inside which was approx. 75 feet from the generator.
